School Engagement Facilitator

Effingham - Full Time

Synopsis of position: A successful school engagement facilitator will work with students in the alternative high school and safe school program to improve their school performance, including attendance, academics, and behavior, as well as prepare them for post-secondary. The school engagement facilitator will work with students, families, staff, and outside agencies for the benefit of students' overall educational success.
Qualifications:
● Bachelor’s degree minimum
● Teacher certification OR experience working with at-risk youth
● An individual who has concern for at-risk students and is willing to assist these students in
improving their school attendance, academics, and self-esteem
● Possess public relations skills
● Desire to work with a team serving the at-risk population
Job Description:
● Retrieve morning absence slips and make parent phone calls to absentee students
● Email daily absences and pertinent information to building staff during morning session
● Report attendance information directly to the Principal
● Work with staff to evaluate student attendance activities as it relates to the student’s goals
● Keep and maintain student attendance
● Assist in the classroom as needed to promote consistent attendance and classroom engagement
● Work as a partner with the instructor(s) of the program to continue classroom expectations and lessons
upon the instructor's absence
● Work with outside agencies, both governmental and community services, for the benefit and improved
engagement of students and families
● Visit student homes as needed to improve student attendance and family engagement
● Work with teachers, the principal, families, and districts to assist students in a successful transition back to
districts
● Work with senior students to create a post-secondary path, including exposure to multiple pathways,
guest speakers, field trips, and job shadowing experiences
● Work with students and staff to create service learning opportunities for students; maintain records for
such opportunities

Further Information - ROE #3 Youth Education Services is dedicated to providing a quality education to at-risk
youth in Bond, Christian, Effingham, Fayette, and Montgomery Counties. FOCUS, TriStar Academy, and
Phoenix Safe Schools currently serves youth in the regular public junior high school setting. New Approach,
Aspire and Revive High Schools currently serve youth in the regular high school setting. Qualified candidates
must be willing to work with students, families, and community members to create a pathway of success for
students.
