SEL Counselor

Taylorville - Full Time

Assist with the formulation of admin procedures, policies, etc that affect the welfare of students. Assist in the development of school social emotional counseling objectives. Assist in the development of plans to improve the quality of services provided to students based on assessed needs. Planning duties in conjunction with administration, staff, social worker and counselor.  Provide individual or group counseling for children experiencing  problems with attendance, on-time arrival, discipline, school, home, or community adjustment with an emphasis on early intervention. Encouraging and assisting families in their pursuit of community services that may assist in the remediation of school centered problems. Schedule and deliver Core (Tier I) SEL curriculum.  Analyze student achievement - academic and social emotional, provide small group (Tier II) interventions, and individual interventions (Tier III).  Performs casework service with parents and assists in preventing problems by facilitating communication with school. Advocating for students at meetings, etc. Maintain case records and files. Collaboration with staff. Be a liaison with services in the community. Attend and participate in educational conferences, workshops pertaining to district initiatives and job function. Maintain records of all services provided.  PEL in Certified School Counselor preferred. Bachelor's or Master's degree, Valid Illinois Professional Educator's License with proper endorsement. Background and experience in the mental health field as a social emotional counselor preferred. Valid driver's license. Successful completion of criminal background check.
