As students progress through the upper elementary and middle grades, the demands of reading shift from learning to read to reading to learn. However, many students continue to struggle with word recognition and language comprehension, impacting their overall literacy success. This session will explore the science of reading and how to scaffold instruction to meet the needs of students in grades 4-8. Participants will gain practical, evidence-based instructional routines to support students in word recognition, including multisyllabic word reading, morphology, and fluency, as well as strategies for strengthening language comprehension through vocabulary, text structure, and knowledge-building. Educators will leave with actionable tools to accelerate reading success and empower students to become confident, skilled readers.

This training will be held online on February 17, 2027 from 10:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. The cost to attend this training is $20/person. Each participant will receive 1.5 hours. A link to join the training will be sent out prior to February 17th.
