The Makerspace Starter Kit
Sep 29, 2026
9:00 am - 2:30 pm
Vandalia, IL 62471
Registration Cost: $50.00
Are you ready to get a makerspace going at your school, but not quite sure where to start? Maybe you have a space already, but it’s due for a makeover. There are so many options out there, and technology is constantly changing. Where do you start—and more importantly, how do you ensure the technology you buy doesn't just sit on a shelf gathering dust?
This workshop provides a structured protocol for planning, designing, and stocking your makerspace to best meet the needs of YOUR students. Rather than a one-size-fits-all approach, we’ll share the research and critical questions you need to ask to tailor your space for maximum utility and long-term success.
Along the way, you’ll learn from past and current examples of spaces, receive a guiding document to help plan your journey, and hear tips, tricks, do’s, and don’ts from an expert who has been through this process multiple times. You may even benefit from the collective experience of other makers in the room as participants discuss successes and challenges.
Finally, experience live demos of popular technologies found in today’s makerspaces, including 3D printing, coding, and more. We’ll give you the tools and the confidence to build a makerspace that drives meaningful student engagement and impactful learning.
This training will be held on September 29, 2026 from 9:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. at the ROE #3 Professional Development Center. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. The cost to attend this training is $50/person and lunch will be provided. Each participant will receive 5.0 PD hours.
