Principal Breakaway - June 2026
Jun 4, 2026
9:30 am - 1:00 pm
Altamont, IL 62411
Join us on June 4th for the Principal Breakaway! Emily Flach will kick off the day with The Digital Dilemma.
This leadership workshop helps K-12 administrators navigate the "screen time" dilemma by shifting focus from minutes spent online to the quality of digital engagement. Grounded in the principle that technology is a tool—not a replacement for skilled educators—this session prioritizes high-impact pedagogy and human interaction over the devices themselves. By integrating Hattie’s research-backed strategies with the SAMR and TPACK frameworks, leaders will explore how to anchor EdTech in proven teaching practices that amplify student learning. We will move beyond the "tech makes things easier" mindset to emphasize active creation through tools like Google Suite, Canva, and AI. Participants will leave with a strategic blueprint for vetting technology that strengthens student agency and ensures the teacher remains at the heart of the classroom.
Following lunch everyone will have the opportunity to engage in an "You Can't Make This Up" activity! (There will be prizes!) Come enjoy the comradery of your colleagues and reflect on your school year. The venue will be open in the afternoon, following the breakaway, to unwind and network with your colleagues.
