Introduction to NGSS: Navigating the K-12 Illinois Standards for Science

Join presenter Jeff Spencer to leverage this robust national movement to construct vibrant learning environments for students in all areas. This interactive and hands-on course invites teachers at all levels to consider: What are the Next Generation Science Standards, and what does an NGSS-aligned classroom look like? Engage in a model activity that contrasts an NGSS-aligned lesson with traditional science classroom practices.
In this workshop, participants will:
- Learn the structure of NGSS
- Find standards for your specific grade
- Know where to find materials related to the NGSS
- Leave with an understanding of the structure of the NGSS
This training will be held on March 9, 2026 from 8:30 a.m.-3:00 p.m. at the ROE #3 Professional Development Center. Registration will begin at 8:00 a.m. The cost to attend this training is $150/person and lunch will be provided. Each participant will receive 6.0 PD hours upon completion.
