Ready to Save a Life? Heart Safe Schools & HB 5394
Jan 14, 2025
1:30 pm - 2:30 pm
Sudden cardiac arrest is the leading cause of death for student athletes, and a global leading cause of death. When sudden cardiac arrest occurs, time is of the essence: the bystander has only 3-5 minutes to save a life by using CPR and AED. Beginning January 2025, all schools are mandated to have a cardiac emergency response plan (HB 5394).
Join Dr. Heather Baker, a Sudden Cardiac Arrest Survivor and Elementary Principal, and learn how to make your school heart safe and fulfill law requirements in just a few quick and easy steps. Heather is a survivor who died at school at the age of 28 in 2018. Her life was saved by her colleagues who performed CPR/AED. She is extremely knowledgeable on the topic, and has lived the process of writing a plan as a principal.
This training is for nurses and administrators to learn about what the law is, what it requires, and how to write a cardiac emergency response plan. She will also share information about how to become a Project ADAM Heart Safe School, which is a free, easy designation to earn.
This training will be held via Google Meet on January 14, 2025 from 1:30 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. The cost to attend this training is $25/person. Each participant will receive 1.0 PD hour. A Google Meet link will be sent out prior to the training.
